hyderabad: as many as 76 municipalities out of 110 in the state are not paying salaries regularly to their employees. only 34 civic bod-ies have paid salaries till august to their staff. these municipalities do not have money to meet the salary bills because of the wrong policies of the elected representatives. municipalities like bobbili in vizianagaram district and anaka-palli (visakhapatnam district), ped-dapuram (east godavari) have not paid salaries to their staff since janu-ary this year. ramachandrapuram (east go-davari), gudur (nellore), kadiri (anantapur), bhainsa (adilabad) and bhongir (nalgonda) civic bod-ies did not pay salaries to their staff since february. over a dozen munic-ipalities are not paying salaries for the last four months to the staff. except for a couple of municipali-ties like uppal kalan, which topped the charts of efficient performance, most of the civic bodies have not contributed regularly towards the pension and other benefits of their past and present staff.
